What you'll be doing
- Provide occupational therapy services as prescribed by consumer's physician for adults and adolescents with head injuries, spinal cord injuries, chronic pain, general orthopedic rehabilitation needs, and/or neurological behavioral issues as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Occupational Therapy includes evaluations, recommendations for purchasing equipment in preparation for patient discharge, creating treatment plans, completing progress reports, and daily documentation. Coordinate external equipment as needed.
- Treatment plans encompass BADL, IADL, home accessibility, adaptive equipment, UE orthotic devices, visual assessment and treatment, pre-driving assessment and training, functional mobility training, community integration, and family education. Additionally, vocational adaptations may be offered in various settings.
- Develop home exercise programs (restorative program) for long term patients, and train restorative aides.
- Familiarity with all departmental equipment, and ability to implement equipment according to consumer goals/needs.
Anticipated Work Schedule
On-call Hours
Monday-Friday 8:30am-5:00pm (flexible schedule)
Job Requirements
- NBCOT certification as an Occupational Therapist, Registered (OTR). Minimum Bachelor's Degree with certification
- State of Michigan current licensure as an Occupational Therapist.
- 2-3 years of work experience with Neurological disorders, Brain Injury, Spinal Cord Injury, and/or Orthopedic injury preferred.
