Job description
The Mission of ELMHS is to provide mental health evaluation, treatment, habilitation, and consultation for adults. Programs include inpatient interventions, jail-based evaluations, supervised group home and residential programs, forensic evaluation, care, custody, and aftercare; intermediate and long-term psychiatric care are in coordination with the total system of care in Louisiana
ELMHS is looking for a motivated, detail-oriented, and positive individual to join our team as a Psych Aide 1 or 2 and provide direct patient care in a supportive behavioral health environment. In this role, you will help maintain a safe and therapeutic setting, monitor patient well-being, facilitate therapeutic groups, and collaborate with interdisciplinary treatment teams to support patient recovery and progress. The ideal candidate is committed to patient-centered care, effective communication, accurate documentation, and working collaboratively to promote positive outcomes for individuals receiving treatment.

In this role, you will:
- Attend, report, and accept patient care assignment for assigned shift.
- Maintain a therapeutic environment, correctly identify patient growth and development stage, and communicate according to the level of understanding, stage of growth and development.
- Ensure patient safety and demonstrate ability to identify potential or real safety hazards, corresponding to the individual patient's stage of growth and development.
- Conduct patient groups under the direction of RN staff and document patient participation; participate in treatment team staffing, provide nursing input, and notify appropriate personnel when patient conditions or behaviors change.
- Perform routine nursing duties according to level of competency and within licensure guidelines, and document findings or patients’ responses accurately and in a timely.
- Maintain open communication with supervisors, report accidents and injuries according to policy and procedure, and participate willingly in investigations, providing incident reports when appropriate.
- Maintain a current and unencumbered motor vehicle license
