What You'll Do
As a Physical Therapist Assistant, you will
- Model exceptional customer service while demonstrating care, compassion, and trust toward Team Members and Residents.
- Administer active and passive therapeutic treatments, including heat, light, sound, water, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, ultraviolet, infrared, diathermy, and hot/cold pack therapies to improve and maintain function.
- Administer traction treatments to relieve neck and back pain.
- Instruct, motivate, and assist patients in functional activities, including pre-ambulation, transfers, ambulation, and activities of daily living.
- Observe and evaluate patient performance during treatment sessions and communicate findings to the Physical Therapist.
- Fit, adjust, and train patients in the use and care of orthopedic braces and prostheses.
- Educate and assist patients in mobility-related activities and the use of assistive devices such as crutches, wheelchairs, walkers, canes, and prostheses.
- Collaborate with physical therapy staff and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate and optimize patient care.
- Record treatment plans, patient responses, and progress in medical records.
- Educate patients and family members on continuing treatment procedures at home when indicated.
- Assist with ordering supplies and equipment.
- Participate in and support staff education, in-services, and training programs.
- Assist with orientation and mentorship of new Physical Therapist Assistants, students, and aides.
- Measure range of motion, body part length and girth, and vital signs to assist with patient evaluations.
- Work collaboratively with therapists, nursing staff, patients, and caregivers to achieve the best possible outcomes.
- Demonstrate strong organizational, planning, and time-management skills.
- Apply knowledge of PPS, MDS, Medicare Part B, and applicable reimbursement systems.
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local standards, ethics, and policies related to physical therapy practice.
- Attend meetings, seminars, and professional development activities.
- Complete clinical and billing documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
- Address complaints and resolve concerns as directed by the Physical Therapist.
Qualifications
- Associate's Degree (A.A.) from an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- Computer literacy required
- Current Pennsylvania Indirect Physical Therapy Assistant license required
Compensation🎯
- Full-Time & Part-Time: $28.00/hour
- PRN/Pool: $34.00/hour
