In this rewarding role, you'll organize and administer medically prescribed occupational therapy programs across all levels of living under the direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist. You'll work with patients experiencing chronic or acute injuries, as well as muscle, nerve, joint, and bone diseases, helping them improve function, enhance cognition, relieve pain, prevent disability, and achieve their highest level of independence.

Compensation

Currently Hiring: Full-Time, Part-Time, and Pool

  • Full-Time and Part-Time COTA: $28.00/hour
  • Pool: $33.00/hour

Key Responsibilities

As a COTA, you will

  • Model exceptional customer service while demonstrating care, compassion, and trust toward Team Members and Residents.
  • Administer active and passive manual therapeutic treatments, including heat, light, sound, water, electrical stimulation, ultrasound, ultraviolet, infrared, diathermy, and hot/cold pack modalities to improve and maintain function.
  • Assist with patient assessments and reassessments, including activities of daily living, strength, range of motion, motor development, muscle tone, sensory and perceptual awareness, functional capacity, respiratory and circulatory efficiency, and cognitive function.
  • Assist in developing and revising treatment programs based on evaluation findings.
  • Implement individual and group programs established by a licensed Occupational Therapist to restore, reinforce, and enhance functional performance.
  • Instruct, motivate, and assist patients with postural, mobility, and functional activities, including the use of wheelchairs, walkers, canes, prostheses, and other adaptive devices.
  • Teach and encourage patients to perform techniques and skills necessary for participation in daily activities.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to coordinate occupational therapy services and activity programs.
  • Design and construct adaptive equipment and recommend modifications to work and living environments when appropriate.
  • Observe patient performance and responses to treatment, documenting progress and communicating findings to the Occupational Therapist.
  • Educate patients and families on home programs and the proper use of adaptive equipment.
  • Prepare treatment materials and assist with maintaining and requisitioning therapy supplies and equipment.
  • Accurately document treatments, patient responses, and progress in medical records.
  • Assist with staff education and in-service training on occupational therapy objectives and techniques.
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare practitioners to integrate occupational therapy into overall patient care plans.
  • Support the orientation of new Occupational Therapist Assistants and assist with guidance for Occupational Therapy students and aides.
  • Maintain required supervision by a licensed Occupational Therapist, including face-to-face contact at least once monthly.
  • Assist with screening processes under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
  • Coordinate care effectively with therapists, nursing staff, patients, and caregivers to optimize outcomes.
  • Demonstrate strong organization, time management, and planning skills.
  • Apply working knowledge of PPS, MDS, Medicare Part B, and applicable reimbursement systems.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and local regulations, standards of care, ethical guidelines, and occupational therapy practices.
  • Participate in meetings, seminars, and continuing education activities to support professional growth.
  • Complete all clinical, billing, and administrative documentation accurately and within required timeframes.
  • Complete Resident screens in conjunction with annual MDS schedules and in response to nursing referrals and reports.

  • Associate's Degree (A.A.) from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
  • Board certified and licensed by the state.
  • Working knowledge of PPS and MDS.
  • Computer literacy required.
  • Must have reliable motorized transportation to travel between facilities as needed.
