Position Summary
The Division of Physical Therapy in the Department of Orthopaedics & Rehabilitation at the University of New Mexico has a temporary part-time faculty position available with responsibilities in PT610 Acute Care. This position will assist the primary course instructor for both courses.
PT610 serves as a dedicated course focused on the acute care setting. This course is delivered in the 2 nd year curriculum, immediately prior to students entering their main clinical rotations. The course content focuses across a variety of patient populations (i.e., neuro-, ortho-, cardiac-, pulmonary-, ICU-populations) and strongly emphasizes students’ hands-on skills in case-based scenarios.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
- 2 or more years’ experience as a physical therapist;
- 2 or more years' experience in an acute care facility
- Current, active New Mexico Physical Therapy license
- Masters in Physical Therapy
Preferred Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have
- 4 or more years' experience in an acute care environment
- 1 or more years’ experience working in an intensive care unit
- Advanced degree (i.e., DPT, (t)DPT, PhD)
- Served as the primary clinical instructor to at least 1 full-time student
- A demonstrated commitment to cultivate an understanding of the rich and varied cultures of New Mexico and to the success of the university's mission to serve local and global communities
