NSC Staffing is actively seeking skilled Structural Welders (Pulse Arc) to join our dedicated team supporting critical naval shipyard projects. If you have robust shipyard welding experience, expertise in multiple welding techniques, and thrive in physically challenging environments, we want to hear from you! Each candidate will need to successfully complete a Pulse Arc Welding Qualification Test before starting work.

Key Responsibilities:
• Execute multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welds using various processes including:
• SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)
• GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
• FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding)
• GMAW-P (Pulse Arc Welding)
• Conduct heating operations with an Oxygen/Propane heating torch.
• Perform Air Carbon Arc Gouging as needed.
• Use fillet and butt weld gauges accurately for inspection.
• Adapt to physically demanding work conditions, including shipboard spaces, sub-assemblies, and elevated work areas (ladders, staging, etc.).
• Adhere to OSHA regulations and safety protocols tailored to the shipbuilding industry.

Qualifications:
• At least 4 years of relevant Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) or equivalent naval shipyard experience as a first-class Welder.
• Expertise in multi-pass welding across all positions using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P processes.
• Experience with Oxygen/Propane heating operations.
• Knowledge of OSHA shipbuilding safety standards.
• Proficiency in Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
• Ability to properly use welding gauges for quality inspections.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights.
• Must pass all-position, multi-pass butt weld qualification tests prior to commencing work, including:
• SMAW: Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), Overhead (4G)
• FCAW: Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), Overhead (4G)
• GMAW: Horizontal (2G)
• GMAW-P (Pulse Arc): Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), Overhead (4G)
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging Proficiency Test

Pre-Employment Testing Requirements:
• Welding Qualification Tests (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GMAW-P)
• Visual Inspection of Welds (Level I)
• Welder's Vision Test
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging Proficiency Test
• Pulse Arc Weld Test - Must Pass Prior to Start
