Summary:

Join our team as a Submarine Welder, where you'll play a critical role in constructing and fabricating metal components for submarine projects. Utilize various welding equipment and techniques, and perform mechanized welding processes with proper training. Your expertise will ensure the highest standards of quality and safety in our work.

Duties and Responsibilities:
• Utilize safety equipment and implement safe work habits at all times.
• Execute welding in 2G, 3G, and 4G positions across a minimum of four processes while adhering to a NAVSEA-approved WPS (weld procedure specification).
• Perform quality checks on welds using fillet weld gauges and other measuring tools, ensuring compliance with NAVSEA standards.
• Set up and program power supplies with minimal supervision across multiple welding processes.
• Demonstrate proficiency in oxy/fuel cutting, plasma cutting, and CAC-A cutting, as well as gouging and beveling plates.
• Assemble and prepare components through methods such as clamp, tack-weld, heat-bend, grind, and bolt.
• Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions or material defects, reporting issues to supervisors promptly.
• Operate manual and semi-automatic welding equipment and set up stud welding guns using a diverse range of processes.
• Monitor all welding and burning activities to prevent overheating or distortions in materials.
• Thoroughly examine and measure workpieces to meet NAVSEA specifications and standards.
• Utilize hand and power tools essential for welding tasks, including angle grinders and needle scalers.
• Accurately layout, position, align, and secure components using various measuring instruments.
• Collaborate consistently with supervisors, completing daily tasks effectively with minimal oversight.
• Be flexible in performing additional tasks outside your trade as necessary.

Required Qualifications:
• Minimum of 3 years of relevant welding experience.
• Proven background in line with appropriate NAVSEA specifications.
• Strong understanding of welding principles, techniques, and defect identification per MIL-22D or AWS D1.1 standards.
• Ability to interpret welding symbols and determine weld sizes and joint configurations accurately.
• Skilled in maintaining specifications for dimensions and tolerances.
• Experience in welding dissimilar metals and handling components of varying sizes and shapes.
• Must be able to gain and maintain access to military/government installations as required.
• Preferred Qualifications: Possession of multiple weld certifications as specified by division needs, along with forklift and man-lift operator certifications.

Physical Requirements:

Work Environment:
• This position primarily operates in an industrial environment with some local travel between facilities.

Work Shift Hours: 6am - 4:30pm (Mon. - Thurs.); possible overtime on Fridays.
