NSC Staffing is actively seeking skilled Structural Welders (Pulse Arc) to join our team for exciting naval shipyard projects. If you are an experienced welder with a strong background in shipbuilding and a passion for high-quality workmanship, we want to hear from you!

Key Responsibilities:
• Execute multi-pass, all-position fillet and butt welds using the following techniques:
• SMAW (Shielded Metal Arc Welding)
• GMAW (Gas Metal Arc Welding)
• FCAW (Flux Cored Arc Welding)
• GMAW-P (Pulse Arc Welding)
• Utilize an Oxygen/Propane heating torch for heating operations.
• Perform Air Carbon Arc Gouging as necessary.
• Accurately use fillet and butt weld gauges for inspection and quality assurance.
• Thrive in physically demanding environments, including shipboard spaces, sub-assemblies, and work at heights (ladders, staging, etc.).
• Adhere to OSHA regulations and shipbuilding-specific safety protocols.

Qualifications:
• At least 4 years of Newport News Shipbuilding (NNS) or comparable naval shipyard experience as a first-class Welder.
• Proficient in multi-pass welding across all positions using SMAW, GMAW, FCAW, and GMAW-P techniques.
• Familiarity with Oxygen/Propane heating operations is essential.
• Knowledge of OSHA shipbuilding safety standards.
• Demonstrated proficiency in Air Carbon Arc Gouging.
• Ability to effectively use welding gauges for quality inspections.
• Comfortable working in confined spaces and at elevated heights.
• Must pass all-position, multi-pass butt weld qualification tests prior to start, including:
• SMAW: Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), Overhead (4G)
• FCAW: Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), Overhead (4G)
• GMAW: Horizontal (2G)
• GMAW-P (Pulse Arc): Horizontal (2G), Vertical (3G), Overhead (4G)
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging Proficiency Test

Pre-Employment Testing Requirements:
• Welding Qualification Tests (SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, GMAW-P)
• Visual Inspection of Welds (Level I)
• Welders Vision Test
• Air Carbon Arc Gouging Proficiency Test
• Pulse Arc Weld Test - Required to Pass Prior to Start
