Position Summary
We are seeking a talented Welder Specialist to join our Marine Services Division (MSD). This position requires advanced welding proficiency and technical judgment to excel in complex tasks within high-stakes environments. Expect overtime and potential travel up to 25% of the year.
Duties And Responsibilities
• Execute advanced welding tasks using TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), MIG (GMAW), and Flux-Cored (FCAW) methods.
• Interpret blueprints, weld symbols, and technical schematics.
• Fabricate and repair structural and piping components.
• Select appropriate materials, joint configurations, and welding parameters.
• Weld in confined spaces and elevated positions.
• Meet inspection standards, including visual, dimensional, and UT/RT requirements.
• Maintain safety, quality, and neatness standards.
• Offer technical guidance and mentorship to junior welders.
Qualifications
REQUIRED
• High school diploma or GED.
• At least eight (8) years of welding experience in an industrial environment, ideally in shipbuilding.
• Proficiency in TIG, Stick, MIG, and Flux-Cored welding.
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Ability to obtain and maintain necessary welding certifications.
• Capable of acquiring Deep Submergence Systems & SUBSAFE qualifications.
• Must be a U.S. citizen without dual citizenship.
• Ability to achieve and maintain a Secret security clearance.
DESIRED
• Experience in a marine or naval environment.
• Familiarity with SUBSAFE, Deep Submergence Systems, or other high-consequence quality programs.
• Knowledge of UT/RT inspection methods.
• Experience with hull penetration, mechanized, or automatic welding.
• Experience in mentoring or leading teams.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES, AND OTHER CHARACTERISTICS:
• Ability to work independently and perform tasks without oversight.
• Detail-oriented approach.

• Primarily indoor work during the day with occasional nighttime duties.
• Frequent interaction with moving and vibrating equipment.
• Outdoor conditions often have humidity over 90%.
• Noise levels exceeding 85 decibels.
• Intense light and glare.
• Occasional exposure to fire, flames, and sparks.
• Frequent exposure to airborne dust, fumes, and gases.
• Working in extreme temperatures (above 90°F or below 32°F).
• Close physical proximity to others.
• Indoor work in uncontrolled environmental conditions.
