Education and Experience:
• High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of two to three years of relevant welding experience
• ASNT NDT Level III Certification or equivalent experience
• One additional relevant technical certification (e.g., AWS Certified Welding Supervisor, AWS Certified Weld Inspector)

Skills and Proficiencies:
• Ability to read and interpret specifications
• Proficient in understanding shipboard installation drawings, blueprints, and job orders
• Experience using various ARC and gas welding equipment for fabricating or repairing products
• Capability to weld all positions and across various metals and alloys in different shapes
• Familiar with gas welding, brazing, and multiple arc welding processes
• Qualifications in thermal cutting and grinding
• Adept at repairing broken or cracked parts and enhancing metal sizes
• Supervisory and leadership skills

Safety and Physical Requirements:
• Occupation Safety Haz-Mat Certification
• Shipyard Competent Person Certification
• Aloft/Climbing/Climbing Shipyard Stairs and Ladders Certification
• Working in Confined Spaces Certification
• Ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs

Security and Work Locations:
• Primary work will be based in San Diego, CA, and Norfolk, VA, with potential travel to other shipyards in the USA and international Navy ports
• Must work at government facilities; US citizenship is required for security clearance
• Successful candidates must pass a background investigation
• Possession of a valid driver's license is mandatory

Other Responsibilities:
• Willingness to work overtime as requested by management
• Safeguard company equipment and tools as well as welding inventory
• Organize and schedule welding jobs to ensure timely completion

Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift 100 pounds at once and 60 pounds for extended periods
• Capable of relocating a 12-foot stepladder without help
• Comfortable working at heights up to 60 feet and maintaining balance on various platforms
• Regularly walks, climbs, lifts, squats, crawls, kneels, pushes, pulls, and reaches overhead
• Good vision and hearing, able to communicate in English effectively
• Experience using standard ladders while adhering to weight limits while carrying tools
• Strong problem identification skills
• Ability to apply general rules to specific situations
• Capable of recognizing relationships among seemingly unrelated tasks
• Detail-oriented, with the ability to see close range
• Able to listen and comprehend spoken instructions proficiently
