SCADA & Systems Integration Engineer/ Electrical Engineer III
Duration: Until April 16th 2027 (with a possibility of extension)
Location: Jackson, MI (Hybrid)
Job Summary
The Engineer will be responsible for the review, integration, and testing of hardware and software associated with programmable and configurable devices, substation network equipment, and generation SCADA systems. This role includes supporting the evaluation of system designs related to SCADA and plant control systems, ensuring reliability, performance, and compliance with technical standards.
The position requires a hands-on professional who is comfortable working in a laboratory environment, performing system prototyping, building test setups, and integrating a wide range of intelligent electronic devices (IEDs).
Key Responsibilities
- Review and integrate hardware and software for SCADA systems and plant control applications.
- Support design reviews and provide technical input on SCADA and control system architectures.
- Develop and execute system prototypes and test configurations in a lab environment.
- Configure, connect, and troubleshoot field devices and communication networks.
- Work with devices such as programmable automation controllers, RTUs, relays, meters, network devices, and transformer monitoring systems.
- Assist in connectivity design, networking, and configuration of intelligent electrical devices.
- Collaborate effectively within a multidisciplinary team environment.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering from an ABET-accredited program.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, along with strong customer interaction abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Access, Excel, and Word.
- Hands-on experience or familiarity with programmable/configurable devices (e.g., RTUs, relays, routers, switches).
- Experience with SCADA systems and generation control integration.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with DNP3 protocol (serial and IP-based communication).
- Programming experience in VB.NET or other high-level languages.
- Knowledge of industrial networking and communication systems.
