General requirements for the position:
Performing operational geologists duties, including but not limited to focal point for all geological operations, supervising deepwater rigs in a frontier environment, fast-tracked well planning and execution. Liaison with service providers and engineering teams, QAQC of drilled / logged data, invoice and contract management with service providers, samples management and exportation for geology and DST teams. Management of well site geologists, logging programs and geological prognoses and compilation of well-critical documents. All the above, to be performed respecting and applying HSE rules and principles and making our services providers to also act accordingly.
Educational Qualifications:
- GEOSCIENCE diploma
- I.F.P CERTIFICATION (INSTITUT FRANCAIS DU PETROL)
Certified for:
- BOSIET, including EBS (emergency breathing system)
- Offshore medical certificate
Experience:
- 20 years in oilfield Geology
- 15 years in operational Geology
- Extensive experience in oil and gas industry, worldwide in varied geological environments as (but not limited to): clastic, carbonates, unconventional, basement, salt, channels, turbidites, etc.
- Experience in varied and complex wells as: exploration and appraisal, offshore, vertical and deviated, sidetracks, ultradeep water, high temperature-pressure wells.
Skills/competencies
- Expert in mud logging, extensive wire & LWD logging (standard open and cased hole logs, imagery, pressure – sampling - IPTT, magnetic resonance, rotary side wall coring, VSP), Coring, Quality Control, Analysis and Integration. Supervision of all those companies.
- Undoubtful ability to integrate geological data to anticipate any potential geological/drilling hazard.
- Being able to interpret geological data, pore pressure, gas analysis, lwd/mwd, wire line and coring data.
- Competent to be in charge of supervision and mentoring of personnel.
- Contract and invoice management. Cost follow up. NPT follow up.
- Well preparation, execution, and post well deliverables.
- Preparation of well programs (WSOR, WLR), mud logging & logging (wire line and LWD/MWD) programs and coring acquisition programs.
- Rock and fluids of oil & gas wells: sample management, shipment and associated export permits.
- Being autonomous in use of dedicated oil and gas dedicated software’s as GEMSTONE, GRAVITAS, SQMT, etc.
- Supervise deepwater rigs in a frontier environment
- Fast-track well planning and execution
- Capacity to liaise with service providers, engineering teams, partners, authorithies, etc
- QAQC of drilled / logged data
- Preparation, check, compilation, loading, distribution of well-critical documents (WLR, SOP, DAILY REPORTS, POST MORTEM, REX, MEMOS, GEOWR, etc)
- Service quality meeting preparation (in dedicated in house software sqmt) and presentation
Start date:
- Mid May: contract in place to be able to launch Visa process
- Mid July: person to be in Namibia
Estimated End date: December 2027
Location: mainly at TotalEnergies office in Windhoek (Namibia) but not limited to it, with missions to other onshore and offshore locations.
Regime: rotational 4 x 4 weeks, with option to extend / adjust if requested by company. To work all consecutive days (week days, weekends, public holidays).
Working hours: office day hours, but can be during night if needed due to operations.
