Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft with a mission to advance the benefits of sustainable air mobility. We are designing, manufacturing, and operating an all-electric aircraft that can carry four passengers while producing minimal noise.

What you’ll do:
- Own, design, model and deliver a novel thermal system for our Hybrid aircrafts thermal design
- Select the right technology, materials and for a very complex and novel thermal system
- Design it so it’s light, performatively and cost effective
- Prove that the system is as good as you think it is - through test definition
- Work with stakeholders to deliver the complete system
- Manage design lifecycle, including interfacing with manufacturing and test teams
- Attend and present your designs to stakeholders
- Interface with supply chain, quality, manufacturing, and stress / FEA engineers
What you’ll need:
- BS / MS / PhD in a related scientific or engineering field.
- 5+ years experience in mechanical design
- Strong fundamentals and demonstrated understanding complex system design
- Experience with stress and finite element analysis
- Experience with Siemens NX and suite of tools
- A systematic approach to problem-solving and the ability to communicate complex, technical rationale to multidisciplinary stakeholders.
- Extremely self-motivated with the ability to work independently and lead technical initiatives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience writing comprehensive technical reports and documents.
- Proficiency in PDM and PLM environments
Nice to have:
- Prior experience with hybrid-electric aircraft, turbegenerators, eVTOLs, or hybrid automotive powertrains.
- Familiarity with FAA or EASA certification
- Knowledge of simulation model validation, model calibration, and uncertainty quantification methods
