Life at Vector means being part of something bigger.

Culture that powers progress

Hear from our people on what they enjoy most about Vector, why they joined and why they stay.

The role

As a Strategic Delivery Analyst, you’ll play a key role in enabling effective decision-making across Vector’s strategic portfolio.

Sitting within the newly-established enterprise PMO (EPMO), you’ll work on projects from right across Vector’s business – from inception to delivery, tracking and finally close-out. No week will be the same.

You’ll bring four key skills and attributes to the team:

  • Strong problem solving, analysis, modelling and presentation skills, which help shape and define potential projects up front and triage in-flight projects that need support
  • The hustle and capability to roll up your sleeves, working in partnership with the project team, and on whatever it takes to make a project successful
  • Intellectual curiosity and comfort working on new and sometimes unfamiliar problems, depending on where the need is across the business
  • The discipline and structure required to play a leading role in the reporting and sustaining of the EPMO operating drumbeat that gives leaders clear visibility of strategic projects and their delivery, risks, dependencies and trade-offs.

What makes this role particularly compelling is the level of exposure, variety and development it offers. You’ll gain early visibility of how strategy, finance, capital and delivery intersect at an enterprise level, work on all types of projects – from digital to customer experience, and growth to operating models – and you’ll have regular interaction with executives and senior leaders.

Designed as a high-potential development role within a “talent factory” environment, it offers accelerated learning in structured problem-solving, executive communication and consulting-style thinking, offering pathways into broader delivery or business roles.

Who are we looking for?

  • A tertiary qualification in Commerce, Engineering, Project Management or a related discipline, with around 2–3 years’ experience in an analytical or project-focused role involving portfolio, strategy, finance or transformation work
  • Strong analytical and quantitative capability, with demonstrated experience building models or conducting structured analysis, and the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • Confidence working in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments, with exposure to supporting senior governance forums and engaging with senior leaders
  • High levels of curiosity, intellectual rigour and initiative, with a proactive, “own it” mindset and the resilience to stay effective during periods of intensity
  • Strong communication and influencing skills, with the ability to challenge assumptions constructively, build trust, and partner effectively across teams.

Why Vector?

We know that great energy starts with great people, and we’re committed to creating an environment where you can be, do and achieve your best:

  • Enhance your wellbeing, protect your future and empower your personal and professional growth through our extensive benefits package
  • Supercharge your career through internal opportunities, own your own development plan and drive your learning and growth

  • Build a legacy doing work that matters – we’re keeping the lights on across Auckland, and driving a sustainable energy future for New Zealand.
