We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior Advisor - Safety, Health & Environment to join our dynamic team in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. In this pivotal role, you will champion a culture of safety and environmental responsibility across our organization, providing strategic guidance and technical expertise to ensure compliance with international standards and local regulations. As a visionary leader, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and continuously improve comprehensive safety and environmental programs that protect our workforce and stakeholders.
- Develop, implement, and maintain integrated Safety, Health & Environment (SHE) programs and policies aligned with organizational objectives and regulatory requirements
- Conduct comprehensive hazard identification, risk assessments, and analysis to evaluate unsafe conditions and practices across all operational areas
- Design and oversee hazard control processes, methods, and preventive programs that mitigate workplace risks and promote a proactive safety culture
- Lead incident investigations to identify root causes of accidents, near-misses, and safety violations; prepare detailed reports with corrective and preventive action recommendations
- Perform regular safety audits and inspections of work sites, facilities, and processes; document findings and communicate corrective actions to relevant stakeholders
- Develop and deliver engaging safety training programs, inductions, and awareness sessions for employees, contractors, and visitors across all organizational levels
- Monitor and track safety performance metrics, key performance indicators (KPIs), and safety statistics; prepare monthly and periodic reports for management review
- Ensure organizational compliance with ISO 14000/14001 standards, local UAE regulations, and applicable federal and state requirements
- Collaborate with engineering, quality assurance, regulatory compliance, and operational teams to integrate SHE considerations into project planning and execution
- Review and advise on safety requirements in method statements, activity hazard analyses, and permit-to-work procedures
- Maintain and verify proper maintenance, calibration, and operation of all safety equipment and systems
- Lead regular SHE meetings with internal teams and external contractors; facilitate open communication regarding safety concerns and best practices
- Develop and implement environmental management strategies including waste disposal, pollution control, recycling initiatives, and resource conservation
- Represent management during regulatory inspections and audits; maintain transparent communication with authorities and ensure adherence to compliance standards
- Stay current with evolving safety regulations, industry best practices, and technological innovations; recommend process improvements and innovative solutions
- Foster an inclusive and supportive safety culture that empowers employees to identify hazards and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Mentor and support junior safety personnel and team members in developing their technical competencies and professional growth
- Prepare comprehensive SHE plans based on historical data, lessons learned, and forward-looking risk analysis
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned to support organizational goals and operational excellence
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in Safety, Health & Environment roles within corporate or industrial organizations, with strong exposure to Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) projects.
- Engineering Diploma or equivalent qualification as a minimum educational requirement
- UAE experience is highly preferred, with sound knowledge of local regulations and standards.. Relevant HSE certifications such as NEBOSH (National Examination Board in Occupational Safety and Health) or IOSH (Institution of Occupational Safety and Health)
- Demonstrated expertise in hazard identification, risk assessment, and development of hazard control programs
- Proven experience in designing and implementing comprehensive safety and environmental management systems
- Strong knowledge of ISO 14000/14001 standards and international best practices in environmental management
- Proficiency with computer systems, data analysis tools, and spreadsheet applications for safety tracking and reporting
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex safety information clearly to diverse audiences
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the ability to mentor teams and influence organizational culture
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experience conducting incident investigations and root cause analysis
- Knowledge of local UAE and Dubai regulatory requirements and compliance standards
- Project management experience with the ability to manage multiple initiatives simultaneously
- Proven stakeholder management and interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across all organizational levels
- Flexible and resilient approach to managing changing priorities and challenging situations
- Commitment to continuous learning and staying current with industry developments and regulatory changes
