Position Overview

The Director of FFLIT and Acquisition Programs reports to the Senior Director - Future Aircrew Training and Acquisition Programs - D&S Canada. Located in CAE's Montreal or Ottawa office, the Director of FFLIT and Acquisition Programs leads a team of program managers and technical and support staff to ensure that the portfolio of projects is successfully completed on time, cost, scope, and quality. This includes integrated training systems delivered to Government of Canada stakeholders either directly or through Prime contractors.

Job Description

Develop and lead a Joint Management Office evolving through the various phases of DND’s project approval process for the Future Fighter Lead-in Training (FFLIT) program.

Develop and manage a strategic partnership framework including performance management framework, basis of payment and collaboration charter for FFLIT in collaboration with DND.

Accountable for the D&S Canada P&L resulting from the Acquisition Programs, which includes the overall financial performance of the programs meeting forecasted revenues, profit, and cash objectives.

Accountable for the delivery of all contractual projects' obligations, including scope, schedule, budget, and quality to ultimately achieve customers’ satisfaction and the planned financial objectives of the programs

Develop and manage key customers and stakeholders’ relationships, communications and negotiations to support project execution while also forging a relationship of collaboration.

Act as prime senior customer contact of CAE as necessary on project matters such as critical negotiations and significant issues and escalation.

Autonomously manage the execution of a portfolio guided by broad organizational strategic objectives and project management methodology.

Autonomously manage and adapt governance to supervise the projects. This includes project management, budget (EAC), resourcing and objectives performance.

Increase market share and profitability by identifying business opportunities with customers to support current and recurring business expansion.

Required Skills & Experience

Bachelor degree or equivalent experience

Ten years of program/project management

Certified Project Management Professional (PMP) or equivalent experience

Fifteen years’ experience in the defense industry and good understanding of military and aerospace markets

Significant experience in working with Government agencies and delivering products or services to the Armed Forces

High level understanding of financial management, involving complex integration of systems with many sub-contractors and partners

Good understanding of DND Headquarters, Commands, Groups, especially as it relates to force generation, military training and associated military standards, regulations, operations & requirements

Good understanding of military procurement processes and decision making

Focused on team accomplishments and ability to lead /empower others to accomplish tasks

Demonstrated ability to build open and cooperative working relationships with clients, colleagues, sub-contractors and internal customers

Ability to make decision and to negotiate win-win solutions

Excellent oral & written communication and presentation skills

Excellent organizational skills and business acumen

Results oriented and ability to lead others in ensuring they meet deadlines

Energy and ability to invigorate others with a passion for excellence and consistently follow through on commitments

Fluency in both English and French is required
