Job Summary
The Painter I is a skilled maintenance position responsible for performing surface preparation, painting, staining, and finishing work on a wide variety of facilities and assets. This role supports both preventive and corrective maintenance efforts and contributes directly to the appearance, longevity, and safety of park infrastructure. The Painter I works independently or as part of a team and is expected to uphold Xanterra’s safety, sustainability, and quality standards at all times.
The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Pay: $21.25 Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities
- Perform the skills necessary for the safe and quality completion of surface preparation, painting, staining, and finishing of Xanterra facilities, structures, and assets.
- Perform, track, and report work associated with corrective and preventive maintenance of structures and equipment using the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and work order logs.
- Use appropriate tools, equipment, and materials to complete assigned work orders in a safe, efficient, and professional manner.
- Contribute to a safe, clean, healthy, respectful, and cooperative work environment.
- Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills, maintaining a polite demeanor and professional appearance.
- Work independently with limited supervision; demonstrate self-motivation and accountability for assigned tasks.
- Be willing to occasionally work overtime, nights, or adjusted schedules based on operational needs.
- Follow and enforce safety protocols for surface preparation in accordance with the company Asbestos Containing Material (ACM) and Lead-Based Paint (LBP) Programs.
Qualifications
- Advanced painting skills, including surface preparation and finish application.
- Working knowledge of a wide range of painting tools, products, coatings, and their proper use in various applications.
- Receptive to training and able to quickly acquire new skills and technical knowledge.
- Proficient computer skills, including the ability to use CMMS and digital work order systems.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing assignments, priorities, and procedures.
- Working knowledge of applicable OSHA and NFPA safety regulations and requirements.
- Ability to recognize and correct unsafe work practices or equipment installations that do not meet code.
- Ability to mentor and train less experienced maintenance staff.
- Demonstrated innovation, professional curiosity, patience, and tenacity when faced with new or complex challenges.
Physical Requirements include
- May require the use of respiratory protection and compliance with applicable respiratory protection program regulations, including restrictions on the length and location of facial hair.
- May require work in confined spaces and permit-required confined spaces.
- Ability to walk up to one-half mile over uneven terrain and perform work at elevations exceeding 6,000 feet.
- Ability to climb stairs and ladders; stand, bend, kneel, and crawl in all types of weather conditions.
- Capable of lifting, carrying, and handling objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Possess the physical stamina required to perform heavy labor in an outdoor environment.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must possess a current, valid driver’s license with a good driving record for the past three (3) years.
