Job description
The Security Shift Supervisor serves as a frontline leader responsible for the direct supervision and coordination of Security Officers during assigned shifts. This role ensures consistent execution of post orders, adherence to department policies, and professional service delivery while supporting guest safety, employee wellbeing, and property protection.
The Security Shift Supervisor provides visible leadership, guidance, and oversight to assigned personnel, reinforcing expectations, addressing performance issues, and escalating incidents appropriately. This position supports shift‑level operational readiness and incident response while upholding Forbes Five‑Star service standards and company values within a luxury resort and casino environment.
Essential Duties (include but are not limited to)
- Supervise Security Officers during assigned shifts to ensure adherence to post orders, policies, and operational standards.
- Maintain visible leadership presence and active supervision to reinforce professionalism, accountability, and service excellence.
- Monitor officer deployment, coverage, and activity to ensure alignment with operational and guest service demands.
- Support incident response involving guest or employee safety concerns, disruptive behavior, or medical emergencies, escalating to Security Shift Managers as required.
- Assist with scene management to preserve safety, order, and the dignity of guests and employees.
- Ensure accurate and timely completion of incident reports, log entries, and required documentation.
- Reinforce compliance with company policies, department procedures, internal controls, and regulatory requirements.
- Address guest concerns professionally and coordinate with hotel leadership or support departments when necessary.
- Interact with guests and internal partners in a professional, respectful, and service‑oriented manner consistent with Forbes Five‑Star standards, escalating sensitive matters to Security Shift Management as appropriate.
- Communicate shift‑level updates, assignments, and expectations clearly to assigned personnel.
- Identify performance issues and provide real‑time coaching, guidance, and corrective direction.
- Report operational observations, incidents, and personnel concerns to Security Shift Managers or leadership.
- Support special events, high‑volume periods, and operational surges through disciplined supervision and coordination.
- Maintain familiarity with emergency response protocols and unified command structures.
- Participate in required training, briefings, and department meetings.
- Promote a culture of professionalism, teamwork, consistency, and accountability.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Security Shift Managers or senior leadership.
Minimum Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to lead by example in a guest‑facing security environment.
- Ability to maintain composure, sound judgment, and professionalism during high‑stress situations.
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be 21 years of age or older.
- Must be able to stand, sit, kneel, lift, and walk indoors and outdoors for extended periods of time.
Licenses & Certifications
- Nevada Gaming Registration.
- Alcohol Awareness (AES) Card.
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- CPR certification.
- Valid Nevada Driver’s License.
- Nevada Concealed Carry Weapon (CCW) permit or HR 218 certification; required only if armed and must be able to obtain and maintain based on operational needs.
Training & Compliance
- Understanding of use‑of‑force principles, situational judgment, and liability considerations.
- Compliance with all department training standards and company policies.
- Successful completion of company‑required psychological evaluation if armed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Two (2) or more years of experience in hotel, casino, or large‑scale security operations.
- Prior experience in a lead, acting supervisor, or supervisory capacity preferred.
- Experience operating within a luxury resort hotel or Forbes‑rated environment preferred.

- Ability to effectively supervise security personnel in a high‑volume environment.
- Strong situational awareness and sound decision‑making.
- Clear and professional verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to enforce standards, provide direction, and escalate appropriately.
- Proficiency in basic computer applications, including incident reporting systems.
- Ability to communicate fluently and professionally in English; additional languages preferred.
