SUMMARY OF JOB
This position exemplifies delivery of patient experience and assumes responsibility for answering phones, scheduling appointments, greeting patients upon arrival and gathering all personal data and insurance information and entering patient appointments, demographic information and visit/charge data into the office scheduling and billing system. Performs check in and checkout office functions. Assists with other office duties as requested. Position also prepares referrals for HMO patients, collects fees for services rendered and completes the end of the day deposit records. Position supports clinical services provided in office and may perform basic health screening services with documented competencies.
In addition, position assumes advanced office tasks including computerized scheduling templates, pre-certing procedures or hospitalization, and scheduling surgery. Works professionally as a team member, coordinates projects or selected office clerical functions as delegated by Office Manager. Assumes charge of office in absence of Office Manager and assists with other special office functions as requested.

RECRUITMENT REQUIREMENTS
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Minimum 2 years experience in a medical office setting required.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, ICD-10 and CPT-4 coding.
- Knowledge of insurance plans.
- Computer skills
- Able to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Knowledge of insurance plans, preferred.
- Knowledge of medical terminology, preferred.
