Job Summary

The Maintenance Lead in Mammoth Hot Springs is a year-round leadership position responsible for overseeing and performing maintenance activities across Xanterra facilities and assets. This role combines advanced technical expertise with hands-on leadership, ensuring maintenance work is executed safely, efficiently, and to quality standards. A core function of this position is to serve as a mentor and technical resource for General Maintenance Technicians, supporting skill development, reinforcing standards, and strengthening team capability. The Maintenance Lead plays a key role in building bench strength, maintaining continuity across seasons, and promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.

The Details: Position Type: Full-Time, Year-Round Pay: $25.75/hour Schedule: Typical schedule is 40 hours, 5 days/per week (may include weekends, evenings, and holidays)

Responsibilities

  • Perform advanced troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of facilities, systems, and equipment.
  • Lead and participate in seasonal opening and closing of facilities, ensuring operational readiness.
  • Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to assign, track, and close preventive and corrective maintenance work orders.
  • Provide direct mentorship to General Maintenance Technicians, including training, coaching, and skill development.
  • Set clear expectations for work quality, productivity, and safety; provide day-to-day guidance and support.
  • Inspect completed work to ensure compliance with safety standards, operational requirements, and quality expectations.
  • Promote safe work practices and ensure adherence to OSHA, NFPA, and company safety programs.
  • Support sustainability initiatives and responsible resource use in daily operations.
  • Coordinate work priorities with leadership to align with operational needs and project timelines.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment.
  • Communicate professionally and effectively with team members, leadership, and cross-functional departments.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and adjust to changing priorities; flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime as needed.

Qualifications

  • Advanced mechanical aptitude with demonstrated troubleshooting and repair experience across multiple trades (e.g., plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry).
  • Proven leadership experience with the ability to train, mentor, and develop maintenance staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to adapt to dynamic operational needs.
  • Working knowledge of CMMS systems and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and general safety compliance standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage workload effectively, and maintain accountability.
  • Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Willingness to work holidays, weekends, and flexible shifts based on operational demands.

Physical Requirements include

  • Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevations above 6,000 ft.
  • Walk up to 0.5 miles over uneven terrain; climb stairs and ladders.
  • Lift and carry up to 50 lbs; perform heavy labor outdoors in varying weather.
  • Must be at least 21 years old with a valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
