Job description
ABOUT AARKE
Aarke is a Swedish design company redefining everyday kitchen appliances through premium materials, engineering, and timeless design. Founded in 2013, we are on a mission to re(de)fine the home appliances industry — combining Scandinavian design, exceptional quality, and top-tier materials in a category often overlooked by the design community.
Our flagship product, the Aarke Carbonator, has earned a devoted global following with customers in more than 30 countries. As we continue to scale internationally and expand into new product categories, we are looking for sharp, hands-on people to grow with us.
THE POSITION
This is a chance to own Aarke's entire data foundation and use it to help a fast-growing design brand grow. The Data & Analytics Specialist works as close to commercial decisions as to the data itself, and turns a strong data platform into better decisions across the business.
The role owns Aarke's data platform: the BigQuery warehouse, the data model, the pipelines and the Power BI reporting layer the company relies on. It is the source of truth across sales, e-commerce, marketing, operations, finance, product, claims and customer experience, and it gives the whole company reliable numbers to move quickly on. Keeping it accurate, available and trusted is what makes everyone else faster.
Just as important, this is an enabling role across the whole business. A large part of the job is helping Aarke grow and run well: on the commercial side, turning data into insight on sales, channels, conversion, customer lifetime value and retention; and on the operational side, giving Operations, Logistics and Finance the insight they need on inventory, supply, fulfilment, returns, service and cost-to-serve. The role works with the e-commerce, performance marketing and CRM teams as well as the operations, logistics and finance teams so decisions across the company are grounded in real numbers. It suits someone who enjoys sitting between business and technology, wants to keep learning across both, and brings findings to the teams rather than waiting to be asked.
The role owns the platform and makes it easy for others to use. Teams across the company work with the data and run their own tools, while this role holds the model, the quality and the standards everyone relies on. We are looking for someone who is not tied to any one technology: someone who builds well on what we have today, keeps a clear view of what good looks like elsewhere, and is confident and bold enough to bring in better ways of doing things when they will move the business forward. It reports to the COO and works closely with the Online and Commercial teams as well as Operations and Finance.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Data Platform Ownership
- Own the BigQuery medallion warehouse, including architecture, pipelines, data quality and the canonical data model across all business domains.
- Own the Power BI semantic layer and the reporting infrastructure the company builds on.
- Keep the platform correct, available and trusted as the single source of truth, and resolve discrepancies between systems.
- Work with the external data consultancy during a handover period as specialist support, and take over the platform knowledge as the original build team transitions out.
Analytics that Drives Growth and Performance
- Turn data into insight across the whole business, covering both the commercial side (sales and channel performance, conversion, customer lifetime value, repeat purchase, retention and margin) and the operational side (inventory, supply, fulfilment, returns, service levels and cost-to-serve), and bring it to the teams who can act on it.
- Work closely with the Online and e-commerce team on the analytics behind the webshop and marketplaces, including funnel, conversion, channel mix and customer behaviour across markets.
- Support Performance Marketing with the data and reporting they need to measure and improve spend, attribution and channel return.
- Support CRM with the data behind lifecycle, subscription and retention performance.
- Support Operations and Logistics with the data behind inventory health, supply and demand, fulfilment and 3PL performance, returns and cost-to-serve, so the operation can be run and improved on real numbers.
- Provide the data and reporting Finance needs for margin, cost and performance analysis across products and channels.
- Bring findings to the business without being asked. This includes surfacing patterns they should know about, beyond the reports they request.
- Own the cross-domain questions and data that do not obviously belong to any single team.
The Data Platform and Reporting
- Build and maintain the BI models and reporting to definitions set by Finance and the business owners.
- Set the standard for how data is modelled, named and trusted, so the whole company works from the same numbers and can move quickly on them.
- Partner with Finance, who own the metric definitions (net sales, GP2, active subscriber, and so on), while this role builds the models that produce them.
- Work alongside the Online, CRM and Performance Marketing teams, who run their own channel tools such as GA4, Polar and Klaviyo. This role owns how that data flows into the warehouse and ties together, rather than owning the tools themselves. This is a key interface with the work the online team holds today.
Ways of Working
- Work as part of a small data and systems team, clear on who is responsible for what, and ready to help across the edges.
- Partner with the Automation & AI Specialist. This role looks after the data platform and reporting, the other looks after systems and automation.
- Use AI in day-to-day work and build data that is easy for the wider team to query and use.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Strong data engineering capability, comfortable owning a cloud data warehouse (BigQuery or equivalent), pipelines and a medallion-style architecture.
- Strong analytical and commercial sense, able to turn data into decisions rather than only dashboards.
- Hands-on with SQL and a BI or semantic layer (Power BI or equivalent).
- Experience across e-commerce or consumer-goods data, spanning commercial data (sales, marketing) and operational data (inventory, supply chain, logistics, fulfilment), is an advantage.
- AI-fluent in working method, and curious about applying AI to analysis and tooling.
- Fluency in English.
PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES
- Proactive, and shares insight with the business rather than waiting to be asked.
- Takes care of the numbers and wants them accurate and trusted across the company.
- Improvement-minded, and keeps the platform healthy and makes it better over time.
- Collaborative, and owns the platform without gatekeeping it, helping teams get what they need.
- Comfortable taking over and looking after something the original team is moving on from.
- Not tied to any one technology, keeps up with what good looks like elsewhere, and is confident enough to challenge the current setup and try better ways of doing things.
