About the position

With the recent success of tenders, and service contract wins, along with a growing demand for our services we are seeking an experienced alarm technician to service the workload in the Wellington region based out of our Lower Hutt Office.

This is a full-time position with a guaranteed 40 hours per week. We provide our customers with 24/7 callout support therefore you will be required to be part of the On Call Roster responding to callouts as they come in. This is a great opportunity for you to earn extra income.

The nature of the work involves keeping cool under pressure and thinking on your feet to solve problems. Your positive attitude, effective communication skills and sense of humour will help you to get along with customers and the team.

To hit the ground running, you will need to bring a minimum of 3 years’ experience “on the tools” and have a full valid NZ driver licence, and knowledge of fire alarm systems used in NZ and the NZ & AU Fire Alarm Standards.

Your role will include but not be limited to

  • Diagnosing system faults
  • Repairing faults
  • Minor installation work
  • Rostered On-Call to attend afterhours call outs.
  • Night shift installation work will be optional when it is available.

You will hold

  • A clean, full NZ driver licence
  • Affinity to work at heights.
  • Ability to be part of On Call Roster
  • Preferably hold NZQA Fixed Fire Systems L4 or be working towards this qualification
  • A minimum of 3 years’ experience with fire alarms in New Zealand.
  • Be familiar with relevant NZS 4501 and the Building Act.
  • Great customer service and communication skills
  • Sound technical and problem-solving skills.
  • Clean Criminal history record
