Job description

About the Company

Imara Talent Global is a mission-driven company headquartered in the United States with primary operations in Ghana. Our mission is to create meaningful work opportunities that enable Africans to achieve an elevated standard of living while delivering exceptional support to companies worldwide. We are building a bridge between exceptional Ghanaian accounting talent and the US market. Our first cohort of 10 accountants will launch in 2026, growing to 75+ by 2027 and beyond. This is an opportunity to be a founding leader of something transformative.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a dynamic, entrepreneurial Managing Director to lead the launch and growth of our inaugural office in Accra, Ghana. This is a rare founding leadership role: you will build the team, establish the culture, shape the infrastructure, and represent Imara Talent in the Ghanaian market. The right candidate is a natural leader with deep roots in the Ghanaian professional community, a strong accounting background, and operational drive to build from the ground up. As we grow, so will your role.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Recruiting & Team Building
  • Lead recruitment of the inaugural cohort of 10 accountants in 2026, prioritizing candidates with strong technical skills and professional development potential
  • Hire and manage administrative support staff to sustain day-to-day operations
  • Scale the team to 75+ accountants by 2027 and participate in long-range workforce planning
  • Team Management & Development
  • Provide direct management, coaching, and mentorship to the accounting team and administrative staff
  • Foster a culture of excellence, integrity, accountability, and continuous growth
  • Partner with the US team to design and deliver onboarding, technical training, and professional development
  • Ensure high levels of work product and quality control across the team to build trust with clients
  • Monitor team performance and implement feedback mechanisms and career pathways
  • Partnerships & Community Engagement
  • Build and maintain relationships with local academic institutions (universities, polytechnics, professional associations) to support talent pipelines
  • Represent Imara Talent Global at industry events, career fairs, and community forums
  • Cultivate strategic local partnerships that enhance the company’s reputation and reach in Ghana
  • Executive Partnership
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the Ghana office and US executive leadership
  • Provide regular operational, financial, and people-related reporting to HQ
  • Act as the face of Imara Talent in Ghana, modeling our values and mission publicly and internally
  • Office Launch & Operations
  • Identify, negotiate, and secure suitable office space in Accra, aligned with operational and cultural needs
  • Procure and manage technology, equipment, and tools required for a remote-capable team
  • Establish office policies, workflows, and operational standards in coordination with US leadership

WHAT YOU HAVE

Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field
  • 5+ years of professional experience in accounting or finance
  • 3+ years of management experience, ideally in a startup, NGO, or multi-stakeholder environment
  • Demonstrated experience in recruiting, hiring, and developing professional teams
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills
  • Strong organizational and project management capabilities
  • Deep familiarity with the Ghanaian professional landscape, culture, and business environment

Preferred

  • Professional accounting certification (ICAG, ACCA, CPA, or equivalent)
  • Experience working with or for US-based organizations or in cross-cultural professional settings
  • Existing network within academic institutions, professional associations, or the accounting sector
  • Fluency in English; proficiency in other Ghanaian languages an asset

What Success Looks Like

In your first 6 months, you will have;

  • Secured and set up the Accra office,
  • Hired the founding team of 10 accountants and essential admin staff, and
  • Developed onboarding and training frameworks in partnership with US leadership.

By the end of year one, the team will be;

  • Performing at a high level,
  • Local partnerships are active, and
  • The foundation for growth to 75+ accountants is firmly in place.

What We Offer

  • Performance-based bonus tied to team growth, retention, and operational milestones to be determined
