What will you be doing | Nga whainga

As part of the Communications team, the Communications Advisor plays an important role in helping Tourism New Zealand deliver its strategy, plans and activities through high-quality internal and external corporate communications and engagement advice.

Working closely with teams across Aotearoa New Zealand and our offshore offices, you’ll support consumer activity, help provide clear and consistent communication to the tourism industry, and contribute to building and maintaining TNZ’s corporate reputation.

To thrive in this role, you’ll bring

  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to write clearly and effectively for different audiences and channels.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to build rapport and work collaboratively with others.
  • Flexibility and the ability to adapt in a changing environment with shifting priorities.
  • Strong planning and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple pieces of work effectively.

You’ll also bring experience in

  • A tertiary qualification in communications or equivalent relevant experience.
  • At least 2 years’ experience in corporate communications.
  • Developing and delivering internal and external communications and engagement activities.
  • Producing and editing high-quality content across digital, internal, and external channels.
  • Managing digital channels, including content planning, analytics, and optimisation.
  • Supporting media activity, including drafting media materials.
  • Using website content management systems to publish and update content.
  • Confidence using AI and digital tools in communications, and a willingness to continue building your capability in this area.
  • Strong stakeholder relationship management skills to support effective communications delivery.
  • Sound judgement in a communications environment, including reputational awareness.
  • Understanding of the New Zealand context, including cultural awareness and diverse audience needs.
  • Experience in a high-performing marketing environment or knowledge of the travel or tourism sector would be beneficial.

Domestic travel may be required from time to time.
