Job description
Job Summary Install, repair and replace a variety of floor coverings in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Prepare surfaces, measure and cut materials accurately, and complete installations to meet quality and safety standards. Number of Positions 1 Main Duties Inspect and prepare subfloors by cleaning, leveling, and repairing surfaces prior to installation. Measure, lay out, and cut carpets, vinyl, laminate, hardwood, and other flooring materials to fit specifications. Apply adhesives, fasteners, and seam treatments; secure and finish floor coverings according to manufacturer guidelines. Install baseboards, thresholds, transitions, and trim to complete flooring installations. Perform repairs, replacements, and maintenance on existing floor coverings and recommend appropriate remedies. Operate and maintain hand and power tools, and follow workplace health and safety procedures on job sites. Requirements Secondary school diploma or equivalent education. Completion of vocational training or relevant on-the-job training in floor covering installation or a related trade, or equivalent experience. Practical experience installing multiple types of flooring such as carpet, vinyl, laminate, and hardwood. Ability to read plans, take accurate measurements, and calculate material estimates. Physical ability to lift heavy materials, stand for extended periods, kneel, bend, and work in varied conditions. Knowledge of workplace health and safety practices and ability to follow safety procedures.
