(CCSI) has served Prince George's County for over 50 years, providing compassionate crisis support through our hotlines, safe shelter programs, and information and referral services. We are the lead Victim Services Provider for Prince George's County and a leading homeless services provider, operating the county's only non-congregate low-barrier shelter. Our 24/7 services include the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (988), crisis hotlines, domestic violence services, emergency shelters, and housing programs.

Position Summary
This position is under general supervision and the candidate is responsible for multiple phases of food service in cafeterias, vending areas, and dining rooms. Trains and supervises personnel involved in food service and some miscellaneous kitchen activities. The position coordinates all food service operations.
- Candidates must be able to participate in and complete mandatory orientation and onboarding requirements.

Qualifications & Knowledge
*Minimum education and experience needed to perform the job adequately
- Associate degree in Culinary Arts or professional certification from a culinary institution required.
- Food Handler’s Certificate required.
- Supervisory experience in kitchen management of 1 to 3 years required.
- Knowledge of methods and practices of institutional food preparation and service.
- Knowledge of principles of food sanitation, health hazards, and the necessary precautionary measures.
- Ability to maintain records of quantities of ingredients used and volume of production.
- Ability to understand and execute oral and written instructions.
- Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
- Ability to train, schedule and monitor work of student employees and/or volunteers.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills to handle customer concerns, requests or complaints.
- Knowledge of basic arithmetic skills (i.e. addition, subtraction, and multiplication).
- Knowledge of care of food service equipment.
- Ability to use good problem-solving skills; meets deadlines and works well under pressure.
- Basic knowledge of MS Word required; Proficient in MS Office products preferred.
Responsibilities
- Prepares healthy, nutritious meals for residents
- Supervises food services staff in preparation of food service tasks in cafeterias, dining rooms, and vending areas.
- Opens food service center; secures kitchen and dining areas at the close of daily serving period shift may dictate.
- Establishes and maintains systems and procedures for the ordering, receiving, storing, preparing and serving of food and related products.
- Coordinates overall food center operations.
- Participates in evaluating performance of staff and makes recommendations to Shelter Manager.
- Arranges and assists in arranging for parties, conference luncheons, catering services, etc., and assists in preparation of dining areas and serving of food.
- Supervises and participates in the work of the kitchen and dining areas as required.
- Arranges for added regular and student help for special activities requiring food service and for student-served meals.
- Oversees and is responsible for cleaning and organization of kitchen/food services supplies.
- Performs other duties as assigned.

- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred
