Job description
Position: STEEL DESIGN & ESTIMATOR (Structural Detailer / Construction Estimator / Quantity Surveyor – Steel Projects)
Salary range : up to Php 90,000 Philippine Peso (The final amount will be at the the client discretion basing on the candidate’s skills and experience.)
Working Hours: Monday to Friday following 10am-7pm NZDT (6am-3pm Philippine Standard Time)
Work set-up: 100% Remote work (Independent Contractor Agreement)
Holidays : New Zealand Public Holidays

OVERVIEW
A growing international construction company specializing in steel-framed buildings, sheds, and structural systems is seeking a Steel Design & Estimator to support project delivery from design through to construction readiness. This role combines technical detailing, material take-offs, estimating, and coordination , working closely with engineers, project managers, and suppliers in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Estimating & Take-Offs: Interpret architectural/structural drawings to prepare accurate material take-offs for steel members, cladding, and components.
- Steel Detailing: Produce detailed framing models, shop drawings, layout plans, and cutting lists.
- Housing Design Integration: Apply direct housing design principles to ensure residential shed-home layouts and habitable structure projects are technically sound, buildable, and compliant.
- Pricing & Quotes: Input quantities into Excel templates and validate external supplier quotes (doors, windows, joinery).
- Coordination: Liaise with engineers, draftspeople, and project teams; assist with building consent documentation and RFIs.
Must-Haves (Essential)
- DIRECT HOUSING DESIGN EXPERIENCE: You must have a proven project background working directly on residential buildings, home layouts, or liveable structures.
- Proven experience in light-gauge/cold-formed steel detailing and construction estimating.
- Proficiency in reading architectural and structural blueprints (both residential and industrial).
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (formulas and templates).
- Experience using CAD/BIM or steel detailing software.
- Excellent written English and experience working with international teams.
- Strict "zero preventable errors" standard —high attention to detail is critical.
Nice-to-Haves (Highly Desirable)
- Experience with Australia/New Zealand construction standards or residential building codes.
- Familiarity with FrameCAD, Tekla, Revit, AutoCAD, or Vertex BD .
- Background in portal frame structures, sheds, or agricultural buildings.
Qualifications
- Degree or diploma in Engineering, Architecture, Drafting, Construction Management, or related field (preferred)
- Or equivalent hands-on experience in steel construction, detailing, or estimating
