Job description
Position Summary
We are seeking a highly motivated and hands-on Industrial Engineer to support the design, setup, and operational readiness of our new manufacturing facility. In addition to traditional industrial engineering responsibilities, this role will serve as the primary liaison between the manufacturing organization and the site fit-out/construction team, ensuring that facility design, equipment installation, production flow, utilities, safety requirements, and operational needs are fully integrated into the construction and commissioning process. The successful candidate will play a critical role in transitioning the facility from construction through commissioning and into full production operations, ensuring that the site is optimized for efficiency, safety, quality, and future growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Industrial Engineering
- Develop and optimize manufacturing layouts to maximize productivity, safety, material flow, and space utilization.
- Analyze production processes and recommend improvements to increase efficiency and reduce costs.
- Conduct workflow studies, capacity planning, line balancing, and labor utilization analysis.
- Establish manufacturing standards, work instructions, and process documentation.
- Support implementation of Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Perform time studies and productivity assessments to establish operational benchmarks.
- Collaborate with production, quality, maintenance, and supply chain teams to improve manufacturing performance.
- Support equipment selection, installation, qualification, and validation activities.
- Manufacturing Site Fit-Out Coordination
- Act as the primary manufacturing representative and key point of contact between the business and external construction, engineering, and fit-out contractors.
- Participate in facility design reviews to ensure operational requirements are incorporated into building layouts and infrastructure plans.
- Coordinate manufacturing requirements related to utilities, production areas, warehouses, material handling systems, offices, laboratories, and support facilities.
- Review and provide input on construction drawings, site layouts, equipment placement, and infrastructure designs.
- Monitor project progress and identify risks that could impact manufacturing readiness or operational performance.
- Facilitate communication among construction, engineering, facilities, EHS, and operational stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with manufacturing, quality, safety, regulatory, and environmental requirements throughout the project lifecycle.
- Support factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), commissioning, and start-up activities.
- Track action items, project milestones, and operational readiness deliverables.
- Assist in developing transition plans from construction completion to production ramp-up.
- Project Management & Stakeholder Engagement
- Coordinate cross-functional project activities involving Operations, Facilities, Engineering, Quality, EHS, and Supply Chain teams.
- Prepare project status reports, risk assessments, and executive updates.
- Support budget planning and cost-control initiatives related to facility and manufacturing improvements.
- Manage multiple priorities and ensure timely completion of assigned projects.
- Drive issue resolution and facilitate decision-making among project stakeholders.
Core Competencies
- Strong project coordination and stakeholder management skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Analytical and problem-solving mindset.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and evolving project environment.
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.
