ABOUT THE ROLE
DHL Global Forwarding Vietnam is seeking a Pricing & Solutions Assistant Manager (Customs Brokerage & Trucking) to drive the continued growth and service excellence of our Value-Added Services (VAS) - spanning customs brokerage, domestic trucking, and related logistics solutions across Vietnam. Sitting within the Pricing team, this role combines daily service delivery management with strategic vendor development, solution design, and market intelligence to elevate the overall value we deliver to customers.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Service Pricing, Vendor Allocation & Issue Resolution
- Prepare and manage quotations for customs brokerage, domestic trucking, and other value-added services, ensuring accurate and competitive pricing for customer requirements
- Perform vendor service allocation for incoming requests based on vendor capability, capacity, pricing, lane coverage, and performance track record
- Coordinate with the Operations team to resolve vendor performance issues related to capacity, rates, service quality, and timeliness, ensuring minimal disruption to customer service delivery
- Manage supplier bidding and customer tender processes in coordination with the Procurement team
Vendor Capability Development & Performance Management
- Expand and strengthen the vendor network for both domestic trucking and customs brokerage services, covering diverse segments including standard, temperature-controlled, dangerous goods, specialized equipment (air-ride, open top, flat rack, etc.), and customs clearance capabilities
- Drive total value improvement across the vendor base through structured engagement on service quality, key milestones completeness and timeliness, pricing competitiveness, capacity commitment, security and safety compliance, and operational responsiveness
- Conduct systematic supplier performance reviews and audits using defined KPIs, and develop corrective action plans where needed
Solution Design & Commercial Support
- Design domestic transportation solutions encompassing one-way and round-trip optimization, re-use container, multi-stop scheduling, and site surveys
- For customs brokerage services, collaborate with the Compliance and Operations teams to understand processes and regulatory requirements, enabling informed vendor negotiations and sound solution development
- Develop and expand value-added service offerings to meet evolving customer requirements (loading/unloading, lashing, packing, tally, IoT devices, etc.)
- Provide support for cross-border trucking projects on request, in coordination with the International Trucking (ITR) team
Pricing, Market Intelligence & Compliance
- Develop a thorough understanding of cost structures and pricing drivers for both domestic trucking and customs brokerage to enable accurate pricing for new lanes, services, and customer requirements
- Maintain current knowledge of market conditions, industry trends, and the competitive landscape across trucking and customs segments to inform pricing and service positioning
- Work with the Compliance team to monitor relevant transportation and customs regulatory changes, and support risk assessment and mitigation planning to protect service continuity
Operational Design, Quality & Continuous Improvement
- Apply knowledge of truck dispatching, scheduling, and fleet coordination to design operational frameworks that optimize utilization and service delivery
- Evaluate and recommend Transportation Management System (TMS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) tracking solutions to enhance fleet visibility, dispatching efficiency, and operational control
- Develop operational models that enhance fleet flexibility, capacity management, and service reliability for future implementation
- Design and enhance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for VAS operations to establish consistent quality, safety, and compliance standards
- Prepare management reports on vendor performance, cost trends, and market developments
- Identify and implement process improvements across the VAS value chain to enhance service quality and operational efficiency
REQUIREMENTS
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Transportation, Supply Chain Management, or a related field
- Minimum 5 years of experience in domestic trucking, road freight, customs brokerage, or logistics operations in Vietnam, with hands-on involvement in service delivery, vendor coordination, and day-to-day operational management
- Proven track record in vendor/supplier management, including sourcing, negotiation, performance evaluation, and relationship development
- Ability to develop pricing and design transportation solutions (Full Truck Load - FTL, Less Than Truckload - LTL) for standard as well as special cargo (reefer, DG, odd-size equipment, etc.)
- Solid understanding of Vietnam’s domestic trucking and/or customs brokerage market: key corridors, vendor landscape, pricing structures, and regulatory framework
- Hands-on experience in truck dispatching, fleet planning, and transport coordination; experience with TMS and GPS fleet tracking systems is advantageous
- Proficiency in analytical tools (Excel, data analysis) for cost modeling and reporting
- Working-level English proficiency
- Strong negotiation, problem-solving, and stakeholder management skills
- Self-motivated and hands-on, with the ability to work independently across multiple priorities
