Job description
Job Summary Provide skilled jewellery and watch repair, restoration and maintenance services for a variety of pieces. Perform precision repairs, polishing, resizing and quality inspections while maintaining accurate records and communicating with clients. Number of Positions 5 Main Duties Inspect, assess and diagnose jewellery and watch condition, provide repair estimates and recommend appropriate services. Perform repairs such as soldering, stone setting, ring resizing, polishing, replating and assembly of metal and gemstone components. Disassemble, clean, repair and reassemble watch movements, replace batteries, adjust timing and conduct functionality tests. Operate hand tools and bench equipment including lathes, polishing machines, microscopes and precision measuring instruments for detailed work. Maintain accurate records of work performed, parts used and costs, and communicate repair status and timelines to clients. Follow workplace safety procedures, maintain tools and equipment, and manage inventory of parts and supplies. Requirements Secondary school diploma or equivalent; completion of a jewellery or watch repair program, certificate or apprenticeship is preferred. Several years of hands-on experience repairing jewellery and watches, or a combination of formal training and practical experience. Demonstrated ability with soldering, metalworking, stone setting, ring sizing, polishing and basic plating techniques. Experience diagnosing and repairing watch movements, including battery replacement and timing adjustments. Excellent manual dexterity, hand–eye coordination and visual acuity for precision, small-component work. Good communication skills, record-keeping ability and attention to detail when preparing estimates and documenting repairs.
