BCG X EMESA Commercial Excellence Senior Manager
Job description
Who We Are
Boston Consulting Group partners with leaders in business and society to tackle their most important challenges and capture their greatest opportunities. BCG was the pioneer in business strategy when it was founded in 1963. Today, we help clients with total transformation-inspiring complex change, enabling organizations to grow, building competitive advantage, and driving bottom-line impact.
To succeed, organizations must blend digital and human capabilities. Our diverse, global teams bring deep industry and functional expertise and a range of perspectives to spark change. BCG delivers solutions through leading-edge management consulting along with technology and design, corporate and digital ventures—and business purpose. We work in a uniquely collaborative model across the firm and throughout all levels of the client organization, generating results that allow our clients to thrive.
What You'll Do
We are seeking a strong candidate with experience and passion to join our Delivery Excellence team as a Senior Manager based in Lisbon.
In this role, you will work with senior case teams, commercial teams, technical experts, and functional specialists to help shape high-quality client commitments and improve the likelihood that ambitious AI and digital work translates into measurable impact.
This is a high-judgment operating role at the intersection of digital delivery, commercial judgment, stakeholder influence, and execution excellence. You will not be the day-to-day project delivery lead or the solution architect. Instead, you will work across multiple high-priority opportunities, helping teams think clearly about what needs to be true for successful delivery, adoption, and impact.
- Lead structured discussions with senior stakeholders on complex AI, digital, software, and product opportunities.
- Review opportunity materials and help teams clarify objectives, delivery approach, success measures, resource needs, assumptions, and key risks.
- Identify important delivery, governance, adoption, and value-realization considerations before they become harder to manage.
- Coordinate input from commercial, technical, product, data, Responsible AI, legal, finance, and delivery specialists.
- Translate complex discussions into clear recommendations, decision points, and follow-up actions for senior stakeholders.
- Support teams in shaping practical, deliverable, and commercially sound client commitments.
- Help teams pressure-test ambitious plans while maintaining a constructive, collaborative, and service-oriented style.
- Build repeatable ways of working, tools, and guidance that improve delivery excellence across BCG X.
You are good at
- Leading structured conversations with senior stakeholders where the facts are incomplete, the stakes are high, and decisions need to be made.
- Asking practical questions that help teams clarify what they are trying to achieve, how work will be delivered, what needs to be addressed early, and where assumptions may create risk.
- Bringing constructive challenge to ambitious plans without becoming theoretical, bureaucratic, or detached from the commercial realities of client work.
- Understanding enough about AI, digital products, software delivery, data, governance, and adoption to identify when specialist input is needed.
- Applying strong business judgment to complex, ambiguous situations and focusing attention on the few issues that matter most.
- Translating complex conversations into crisp written summaries, recommendations, risks, and next steps.
- Building trust across a matrixed organization and influencing without formal authority.
- Managing several priorities in parallel while staying organized, responsive, and detail-oriented.
- Handling sensitive client, commercial, and delivery information with discretion and integrity.
What You'll Bring
- 8-12 years of relevant experience in technology consulting, digital transformation delivery, AI/data product delivery, enterprise software or product program management, commercial support, delivery assurance, or professional services operations.
- Experience working with senior stakeholders on complex, ambiguous, high-stakes topics.
- A track record of working close to digital, AI, data, software, product, or technology-enabled transformation work.
- Strong understanding of how digital and AI initiatives move from idea to implementation, adoption, and business impact.
- Practical technology fluency: enough understanding of AI, GenAI, software delivery, data workflows, integrations, digital products, and governance considerations to ask sharp questions and know when to bring in specialists.
- Commercial judgment and awareness of how delivery choices, client dependencies, resourcing, timelines, and success measures affect the quality and economics of professional services work.
- Strong problem solving, structured thinking, analytical rigor, and comfort operating with imperfect information.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to synthesize messy discussions into clear, actionable guidance.
- Strong operating discipline, with the ability to manage multiple reviews, stakeholders, deadlines, and follow-ups in parallel.
- A collaborative style, low ego, high integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to protecting BCG and client interests
