Job description

This role will be based in China, between manufacturer sites in Suqian and Shenzhen on a contract/freelance basis with initial engagements August-December 2026, followed by Q4/28-Q4/29)

This will support the Metro Manila Subway Project (MMSP) is the first underground railway system in the Philippines. It will run through seven cities—Valenzuela, Quezon City, Pasig, Makati, Taguig, Parañaque, and Pasay—and is designed as a fully automated line. The system will consist of 15 stations spread across 30 kilometers of double tracks, most of which will be underground, along with a depot located in Valenzuela.

Egis Scope:

  • Turnkey of Platform Screen Doors (PSD) system including spare parts for all stations including test line in depot and Philippines Railway Institute.  Egis subcontracted the scope of Detailed Design, Manufacturing, Delivery, Testing and Installation supervision of the PSD turnkey activities to sub-contractor to be manufactured in China.

The main duties of the Material Quality Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Supervise and report on manufacturing progress and quality of the PSD equipment, incl. daily reports on non-conformances, incidents, fixes and improvements​
  • Follow the control document for quality inspection​
  • Conduct Quality (QA) audits of QA system, including keeping complete records/log of all inspections, certificates
  • Review and challenge the supplier’s quality metric for all manufacturing procedures and FAT/FAI inspection​ of each PSD main equipment
  • Inspect main manufactured PSD equipment and electrical systems for defects and durability (including packing & packaging before shipment to the Philippines)
  • Evaluate progress also including breakdowns/ downtimes and delays
  • Ability to work in an international environment – solid level of English (oral & writing) and Chinese (oral & writing)
  • Experience in quality engineering, quality assurance, or manufacturing engineering role
  • Understanding of manufacturing processes and electrical/mechanical systems
  • Familiarity with non-conformance management (NCR) processes
  • Ability to read and use inspection checklists, and technical drawings/specifications
  • Knowledge of packaging and packing requirements and how to assess their integrity
  • Hands-on experience conducting QA audits — ideally both internal and supplier audits
  • Experience in a supplier-facing or embedded quality role is a strong plus
  • Background in reviewing and validating supplier quality metrics and production KPIs
  • Strong attention to detail — especially critical for defect inspection and documentation
  • Assertiveness and confidence to challenge a supplier's quality metrics and push back when standards are not met
  • Clear written and verbal communication skills for daily reporting to the project organization
  • Structured and organized — able to manage inspection schedules, audit trails, and documentation simultaneously
  • Proactive mindset to identify risks and escalate early
