Job description

Fleet Operations Management

  • Create and execute plans aimed at optimising the efficiency and effectiveness of the global fleet, while ensuring compliance with leading industry practices and standards.
  • Manage the scheduling, routing, and planning of vessel activities to achieve optimal efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and alignment with customer needs.

Technical Maintenance and Repairs

  • Manage and oversee technical maintenance, repair, and dry-dock operations for the designated fleet, ensuring adherence to safety regulations and maintenance protocols.
  • Oversee scheduled maintenance systems and collaborate closely with technical teams to promptly resolve vessel technical issues.

Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure the fleet adheres to applicable maritime laws, regulations, international conventions, and industry standards to uphold safety standards and prevent penalties.
  • Work closely with regulatory affairs teams to remain informed about regulatory updates and implement required adjustments across the fleet.

Cost Management and Budgeting

  • Create and oversee budgets for fleet operations, covering expenses such as fuel costs, maintenance, repairs, insurance, and other operational expenditures.
  • Introduce strategies to reduce costs and enhance efficiency, aiming to meet financial objectives and optimize profitability.

Safety and Security

  • Foster a robust safety culture and enforce adherence to health, safety, and security protocols throughout the fleet.
  • Establish safety training initiatives and conduct frequent safety audits to detect and minimize potential hazards, ensuring risk mitigation across operations.

Communication and Coordination

  • Promote efficient communication and coordination among vessel crews, technical teams, shore-based staff, and stakeholders to facilitate seamless operations and timely resolution of issues.
  • Hold routine meetings to synchronize goals, exchange best practices, and tackle challenges across the fleet.

Performance Monitoring and Analysis

  • Define essential performance metrics (KPIs) to assess and track operational efficiency, performance, and safety standards for both onboard and shore-based team leaders.
  • Review data and trends to pinpoint areas needing improvement, execute corrective actions, and enhance fleet performance.

Vessel Acquisitions and Dispositions

  • Work with the sales and purchase team to evaluate and propose vessel acquisitions, sales, or disposals based on market conditions, operational needs, and cost-benefit analyses.
  • Engage in negotiations and decision-making processes regarding fleet expansion or reduction.
  • Adhere to the Management of Change process for vessel acquisition and disposal.

Environmental Compliance and Sustainability

  • Guarantee adherence to environmental regulations and industry sustainability initiatives, advocating for responsible and eco-friendly operational practices.
  • Introduce initiatives aimed at enhancing the fleet's environmental performance and minimizing its carbon footprint.

Stakeholder Management

  • Interact with customers, charterers, company vessels, and other stakeholders to cultivate strong relationships and grasp their needs and expectations.
  • Respond to concerns and feedback to improve service quality and enhance customer satisfaction.

Requirements

  • Diploma or Degree in marine engineering or equivalent
  • 7 years of experience in a similar or related position (on-shore)
  • CoC Class 1 (Marine Engineer Officer)
