Job Description Summary

We are seeking an experienced Unix Engineer to join our APAC Server, Database, and Storage Team. This role requires a deep understanding of Unix/Linux systems, particularly Red Hat, and will involve overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of our Unix environments. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in patch management, automation with Ansible Tower, Red Hat Satellite, Red Hat Identity Management (IdM), and end-of-life (EOL) management processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, deployment, and management of Unix/Linux environments, ensuring optimal performance, security, and reliability.
  • Oversee patch management processes to ensure systems are up-to-date with the latest security updates and features.
  • Implement and manage automation solutions using Ansible Tower for configuration management and deployment.
  • Utilize Red Hat Satellite for system provisioning, patch management, and lifecycle management of Red Hat systems.
  • Manage Red Hat Identity Management (IdM) for centralized authentication and access control.
  • Develop and execute strategies for Red Hat upgrades, including planning for end-of-life (EOL) management and system migrations.
  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment with organizational goals and project objectives, fostering a culture of teamwork and shared success.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve system issues, providing timely and effective solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Stay current with industry trends and best practices related to Unix/Linux systems and automation.

Required Skills

  • Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field; Masters degree preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience working with Unix/Linux systems, particularly Red Hat.
  • Proven experience in patch management, automation, and system administration.
  • Strong knowledge of Ansible Tower, Red Hat Satellite, and Red Hat Identity Management (IdM).
  • Experience with Red Hat upgrades and EOL management strategies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and non-technical teams.
