Overview

The Transportation Supervisor is responsible for assisting the Transportation Manager with day to day transportation operations. Manages employees at assigned Transportation location. Employee must be capable of performing and organizing, but not limited to, the following transportation and container functions: providing customer service, processing Transportation Movement Requests(TMRs), capable of training and enforcing policies and standard procedures, familiarity with Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services(PMCS) and vehicle utilization records, performing internal inspections to ensure compliance, conducting shift safety meetings, experience in route planning for shuttle bus services, planning and supervising critical lifts, and have experience in the handling of materials to include hazardous. They will be required to create reports, graphs, charts, and slide shows. The Transportation Supervisor must be capable of working independent in lieu of specific instructions to accomplish mission and enforce the importance of safety at all times.

  • Manages employees at assigned Transportation location.
  • Validates transportation requirements and coordinates transportation support.
  • Arranges movement of personnel, equipment, and sustainment supplies.
  • Coordinates transportation movements.
  • Provides technical expertise to transportation users within its assigned geographic area of responsibility.
  • Moves containers as fast as mode operators and consignees can handle them.
  • Avoids container congestion in ports, staging areas, and container yard.
  • Performs and monitors transportation functions.
  • Performs general housekeeping at worksite.
  • May be required to work weekends, holidays, early and late shifts
  • Performs other duties and assignments as required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education/Certifications: One-year related experience may be substituted for one year of education, if degree is required.

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent. Experience:
  • 3-5 years directly related work and management experience.
  • Valid driver’s license to obtain a base driver’s license.
  • Conducting Transportation Safety Meetings
  • Route planning for shuttle bus services
  • Planning and supervising critical lifts
  • Handling materials to include hazardous materials Skills:
  • Excellent computer, interpersonal, and oral and written communication skills required.
  • Must be able to speck, write and read English, including receiving and delivering instructions in English.
  • Computer skills include a working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Power Point. Requires excellent organizational skills; with the ability to work under fast paced and adverse conditions.
  • Having experience and/or be familiar with the operations of trucks, buses, cranes, various size forklifts, and/or other equipment as required is preferred.
