Job description
Overview
Service writer is responsible for assisting customers with their vehicle repair needs. Their duties include greeting customers and telling them about the types of services their shop offers, updating customers on the progress of their vehicle repairs and processing customer transactions upon completion of their vehicle repairs.
Responsibilities
Responsibilities: When a vehicle is received in the shop, the service writer
- Annotates all issues identified by the customer and ensures Work Order is initiated for repairs.
- Facilitates all follow-on communication between mechanics, customers and Management.
- Maintains customer rapport by explaining estimates and expected return of vehicle, obtaining customer’s approval of estimates, obtaining and providing contact telephone numbers, answering questions and concerns, and arranging towing and temporary transportation.
- Responsible for the upkeep of assigned PPE, tools, equipment, vehicles etc. and is liable to turn in for scheduled maintenance or when identified faulty.
- Updating work orders using either a tablet, computer and/or handwritten on paper workorder.
- Updating the work order status, inputting a log, requesting material and time performance.
- Performs general housekeeping when working on site.
- May be required to perform other duties as assigned.
- May be required to work weekends, holidays, early and late shifts
Qualifications
Qualifications: Education
- High School Diploma or equivalate
- Must have a driver’s license from home of record Experience:
- Experience working in customer service required
- Experience with Micro Soft Suite
- Training staff members in operations Skills:
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Must speck, read and write English, including providing and receiving direction in English.
- Strong customer service skills
- Strong computer skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Ability to troubleshoot Work Environment:
- Mostly working in an office environment
- Exposure to environmental changes such as extreme heat and humidity
- PPE is required in designated area.
