We are a leading logistics and supply chain company, looking for a dedicated and reliable Warehouse Assistant to join our team in Pietermaritzburg, South Africa. As a Warehouse Assistant, you will be responsible for assisting with the day-to-day operations of our warehouse, ensuring that all tasks are completed efficiently and accurately.
Key Responsibilities
- Receive, store, and distribute goods and materials within the warehouse
- Prepare and complete orders for delivery or pickup according to schedule
- Perform inventory controls and keep accurate records of stock levels
- Inspect goods for defects and damages and report any discrepancies
- Maintain a clean and organized warehouse environment
- Operate and maintain warehouse equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks and containers
- Collaborate with other warehouse staff to ensure efficient workflow
- Follow all safety and security procedures to maintain a safe working environment
- Other duties as assigned by the Warehouse Manager.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Prior experience working in a warehouse or similar environment is preferred
- Familiarity with warehouse procedures and equipment, such as forklifts and pallet jacks
- Ability to lift heavy objects and stand for extended periods of time
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good communication and teamwork skills
- Basic computer skills and proficiency in inventory management software
- Must be able to work full-time and have a valid work permit for South Africa.
