SafeWork NSW is the state's workplace health and safety regulator. Our mission is to reduce work-related fatalities, injuries and illnesses by ensuring workplaces comply with health and safety laws. About the role

We are seeking a proactive and creative Project Officer to support the delivery of communication, engagement and project initiatives that contribute to SafeWork NSW's strategic priorities.

Working in a fast-paced and collaborative environment, you will coordinate projects, develop communication materials, engage with stakeholders and support the delivery of campaigns, events and organisational initiatives. The role requires a strong communicator who can manage competing priorities, build effective relationships and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a communications professional looking to broaden their project delivery experience while contributing to meaningful work that improves health and safety outcomes across NSW.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and support the delivery of communications and stakeholder engagement projects from planning through to implementation.
  • Develop clear, engaging and audience-focused communication materials, including briefing notes, presentations, newsletters, intranet content and stakeholder updates.
  • Support the planning and delivery of communication campaigns, events, consultations and engagement activities.
  • Build and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support project outcomes.
  • Coordinate meetings, working groups and consultation activities to facilitate collaboration and information sharing.
  • Prepare and maintain project documentation, reports and status updates to support governance, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Undertake research and analysis to identify trends, issues and opportunities that inform communication strategies and project planning.
  • Monitor project risks and issues, escalating where appropriate and supporting the implementation of solutions.

About You

You are a highly organised and adaptable communications professional who enjoys managing multiple priorities and working collaboratively to achieve results.

You will bring

  • Experience coordinating projects, communication initiatives or stakeholder engagement activities.
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor messages for different audiences.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
  • Experience developing communication products and supporting communication campaigns.
  • Excellent organisational and project coordination skills with strong attention to detail.
  • Research, analytical and problem-solving capability.
  • The ability to manage competing deadlines and thrive in a dynamic environment.
